BGE December News
by David Wehde
December 03, 2009
The most important news to share is that Bowling Green
Elementary School has met it’s goal toward AYP (adequate yearly
progress) in Communication Arts. The initial report from the state
was that we did not meet and this caused a lot of concern at BGE.
After the state double checked, they realized that we did meet our
goals and there was a large sigh of relief. We have put a lot of
hard work and time into our Communication Arts instruction over the
last two years and it is very gratifying that we are being
successful. We are presently working on changing our math
instruction and hope to see similar results with our AYP goals for
math.
We would like to send out a BIG THANK YOU to the PTO and all the
parents for supporting our fall fundraiser. It was a huge success.
We know that the students enjoyed the prizes earned from selling
items, but the most fun was had taking limo rides to McDonalds in a
Hummer limousine and eating ice cream and taping Mr. Wehde to the
wall. Mr. Wehde enjoyed being taped to the wall and hopes the
students will have another successful fundraiser next year.
It looks as if we will be experiencing several rounds of winter
weather this year. Please make sure your children know where they
are to go should we have to dismiss school early. Getting this
information to the school will also help ensure the children get to
a destination where someone is waiting for them. In the event that
we call school off prior to the school day beginning we will be
notifying the community via the SchoolReach automated calling
system. Please verify with the school office your phone numbers or
update the numbers so the children will not be left standing at the
bus stop when school has been called off. Our goal is to ensure
safe delivery of all students to a warm home in a timely manner
should the weather require the school to close.
CONGRATULATIONS to the boys and girls cross country teams and the
football team on their outstanding seasons. Your hard work and
dedication has brought much pride and excitement to the school.
Thank you players, coaches, and parents for the countless hours
spent in planning and practice and getting the students to the
games and practices. GREAT JOB!!!
