The BGHS Alumni Association is pleased to invite you to our 32nd annual banquet.  The banquet will be held on Saturday October 8, 2016, at 6:30 pm in the James A. Wilson Gymnasium.  The cost is $6.00 for annual dues per alumni and $16.00 for the meal per person.  This year we will be honoring graduates of the classes of 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, and 2006.  A link to the registration form and 2016 newsletter can be found by clicking on the link below.

We are pleased to announce Michael Graham as our guest speaker this year.  After high school graduation in 2000, Michael continued his education at Lindenwood University in suburban St. Louis where he received his BA.  While a student at Lindenwood, Graham interned at Stepstone Productions; KMOV Television, a CBS affiliate in St. Louis; and with the professional sports team, St. Louis Rams.  He has also worked as a sports photographer at WGEM Television, the Quincy, Illinois NBC affiliate station.

After leaving the Midwest in 2008, Graham landed in Atlanta as a producer for NBA TV.  Since then, Graham has worked for TNT, Cartoon Network, MLB Network in New York City, and WGLC in Atlanta.  Graham currently works as a sports producer for CNN.  Michael won his two Emmys during his stint with the MLB Network.

Michael is the son of Rhonda Lunceford of Bowling Green and the late James Graham.  He is the nephew of Pam Cole, who he has said played a vital role in his childhood.

We are also pleased to announce this year’s entertainment will be provided by the talented Taylor Blackwell, daughter of Amy and Troy Blackwell and member of the BGHS Class of 2019.  BGHS has a proud tradition of excellent musical education, and we’re confident that Taylor’s performance will be a highlight of our evening together.

This year we will be honoring graduates of the classes of 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, and 2006.  We will also be welcoming the Class of 2000 as they support their classmate and our keynote speaker, Michael Graham.

In 1984, a group of BGHS graduates, many from the classes of 1930-1935, met to discuss the possibility of forming an Alumni Association.  The group was led especially by Dorothy Bibb Krein and Virginia Craig Wendel of the class of 1932.  This founding group held the first banquet in 1985 for the purpose of planning a scholarship program that would help graduating seniors each year.  The first scholarship of $250.00 was given to Jay Niemeyer. The organization was incorporated on April 7, 1986.  The first officers were:

            President – Charles Schuckenbrock

             Vice President – Bill McIlroy

             Treasurer – Frieda Hall

Board Members – Dan Galloway and Fenton Hurd

We owe great appreciation to this group of BGHS graduates for their hard work and vision to form this organization that lives today to celebrate the education and memories of four important years in the lives of everyone who graduated from Bowling Green High School.
