Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to a brand new year in Bowling Green R-1 Schools! We are glad to have you as part of our school family and hope you are looking forward to the 2018-2019 academic year.

The beginning of a new school year, like the dawning of a new day, reminds us that the future holds infinite possibilities.

Our teachers are ready to welcome our students, and our school buildings are ready for the new school year, with improvements such as newly retiled floors and new carpeting, repainted classrooms and hallways, a newly paved road at Bowling Green Elementary, a refurbished track at the High School, new district LED sign, new security upgrades to our entrances and the Frankford library, and a new school bus that will be deployed for the first time tomorrow morning, among many others.  We are also very excited to have a School Resource Officer, Officer Mark Bair of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to all four building locations for added security.

Our staff has been busy this summer with Math and English Language Arts Curriculum writing, Grade Level Team meetings, Math Pedagogy sessions, Student Behavior Intervention Support Team and Trauma Informed Practices trainings, Assessment Training, and a host of other topics.

We had a successful Meet the Teacher night at all four locations and a well-attended Pre-K orientation for our additional sections, and Meet the Bobcat at the stadium was filled with school spirit and great anticipation.

As the new school year begins, please remember that the most meaningful factor in experiencing student success is parental support.  This is achieved through partnering with the school offering concern, participation, and involvement in the life of the school. In order to help your child attain their goals, your involvement and partnership is crucial, whether it be through attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering in your child’s school, or most importantly, reinforcing the importance of on-time school attendance, appropriate behavior and class participation, and completion of schoolwork.

As a reminder, you can find important announcements on our different schools’ Facebook pages, and our school and district web pages.  We encourage you to stay connected and we walk together into a new year. Every child needs a champion to support them, and I look forward to partnering with our families "Empowering our students for life's endless opportunities."

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Important reminders:
