We are excited to be offering fresh produce this year from a variety of local farmers and growers!
For the month of June, during summer school, we have received fresh produce from the Restorative Justice Garden Program at NECC. Zucchini, beets and turnips were received today and will be used in a variety of ways.
The students have really enjoyed sampling new fruits and vegetables!
Also, during summer school and at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year, we will be utilizing fresh produce from Bankhead Farms in Clarksville.
This will be the third year we have enjoyed items from Mike Bankhead's wonderful produce selection! Tasty, fresh vegetables and fruit from Mr. Bankhead have included, tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, corn as well as other items.
New this year, we will be "teaming up" with Dave and Bev McConnell of Aikin Back Farms near Middletown, for some new and exciting items.
If you are or know of a farmer who would be interested in participating in the Farm to School program, please contact me or visit the Farm to School website.
Thanks and have a veggie good summer!
